Your first day
A first day step by step, as the tutorial takes you through it: raise money, build and staff your first factory, sell its goods and buy shares.

When you found a company, the tutorial starts. Its box at the top of each page shows which of its seven steps you are on, with buttons to the right pages and Show me to point at the control to use. Hide tutorial hides it, and Settings turns it back on.
1. Raise money for your first factory
Your first factory and its staff cost most of your savings. You start on My shares. Only 2 shares of each company pay you dividends, your own included, so the rest are worth more to you as money:
- Press the button ending in keep 2, which selects all your own shares but two, then Instantly sell to bank for a reduced price. The bank pays 80% of their worth, at once.
- Or press Put out for sale for their full worth, paid only when a player buys one, which can take a while early in the round.
- Or borrow on the Loans page (Loans).
2. Build your first factory
On Factories, press Build a new factory. Those with nothing under Requires are the easiest start, and one in your speciality produces 10% more. Click one, press Build this factory, then Place it on the map: click a section that glows gold, then the spot, and press Confirm. Next to a road it makes 30% more (Land and zones).
Your first 2 factories need only 1% of the usual building work, so with staff on the site they are built almost at once. If the factory used up your savings, raise money for its staff the same way.
3. Hire staff for your factory
A new factory holds 3 people. On Staff, open Unemployed people or, in some rounds, Post a job ad:
- Unemployed people: choose the factory's profession under Show, click a person and press Hire. A hire is an order, carried out at the next update.
- Post a job ad: choose the profession under Advertise for, post the ad and hire the applicants you want. They only wait a few minutes.
Look for high production points (ProdP), which people bring to a building that matches their profession (Hiring staff).
4. Put your staff to work
New staff wait at head office. On Staff, click a name, choose your factory under Place and press Move. You can place people in a building that is still being built: they build it.
5. Wait for your first goods
Every update your staff make production points, shown under Points on the factory's page. On the hour, every 100 points become one unit of goods in your warehouse (Production and efficiency).
6. Sell your first goods
Goods your other buildings use move to them by themselves. You can sell the rest:
- On Sell on market, for the full market price and extra CV. The goods appear 60 to 120 minutes later, and you are paid when someone buys them (The market).
- On Sell to bank, paid at once, but less while there are over 5,000 units of that good on the market (Selling to the bank).
7. Buy shares in other companies
On Shares, click a company's share to look at it and buy it. Shares pay dividends every Sunday. Try to buy 5 a day until you hold 50, and skip orange and red ones: their owners have not logged in for a few days (Trading shares).
Keep money in your salary account: your staff are paid from it on payday (Staff costs and absences).
