The bank lends you money for a set number of days. You pay it back, with interest, in equal down payments every midnight. Loans are on the Loans page under The bank.

The rules

Edit
  • Interest is a rate per day. The bank sets a new rate every midnight, but a loan keeps the rate of the day it was taken for its whole life. The page shows Today's interest rate.
  • Your open loans together may not add up to more than your company value. This counts the amounts you borrowed, not what you still owe. You can borrow up to shows what is left.
  • You can have up to 10 loans at once.
  • You choose the length from the list of terms. All loans must be repaid before the round ends, so no loan may run past its end, and the bank lends nothing in the last 7 days.
  • Loans are in whole units of money, from 100 up.

What a loan costs

Edit

Interest is worked out on the amount loaned, per day, for the whole term. The loan and that interest are split into equal daily down payments, rounded up to a whole unit, and the Loan preview shows the rounding on its own line.

For example, 5,000 for 28 days at 2.26% a day is 113 interest a day, 3,164 in all. You pay 292 every midnight: 8,176 in total, of which 12 is rounding.

Down payments are taken from your savings every midnight, starting with the first midnight after you borrow. Present loans lists your loans and what is left of each, and Potential loans your total payment a day.

Loans and Company Value

Edit

Borrowed money counts as money earned: it adds 1 CV for every £20. Each down payment is spending and takes it back, so over the life of a loan you lose about the interest's worth of CV. A higher company value in turn lets you borrow more (Company Value and bankruptcy).

Paying early

Edit

Type an amount next to a loan and click Pay, or leave it empty to pay it all. Each early payment costs a £100 fee and saves no interest: the loan just ends sooner. Your savings must cover the amount and the fee.

Your loans must be paid off before you can reset your company.

If you can't pay

Edit

A down payment is taken even when your savings can't cover it, and they go below zero. During the night the bank clears negative savings by taking 1 CV for every 1 you are short, far more than the usual 1 CV per £20. Your staff's dissatisfaction also rises 50% at the next midnight.

If your Company Value falls below 1, the company goes bankrupt and the bank writes off what is left of its loans. Keep enough in savings for the midnight payments, or sell goods to the bank in time (Selling to the bank).

  • Savings and investments Your company's four accounts, why savings earn no interest, and how investing at the bank turns savings into Company Value.
  • Taxes and bonuses The taxes the game charges, the dividend tax and in some rounds a weekly wealth tax, and the market sales and purchase bonuses on the Bonuses page.
  • Company Value and bankruptcy What Company Value is and what raises or lowers it, when a company goes bankrupt or is closed, what happens then, and the Bankruptcies page.
