Training staff
What staff points mean, how staff improve by working, and how training gives someone a new profession.
Updated
Staff get better by working, and training gives them a new profession. Both decide how many points they bring to your buildings (see Production and efficiency).
What the points mean
EditEach person has five attributes: Health, Experience, Motivation, Strength and Knowledge.
- AttribP (attribute points) is the average of the five. It is what they bring to any job.
- ProfP (profession points) is a bonus, in per cent, that only counts in their own trade.
- ProdP (production points) is AttribP plus ProfP per cent of it: what they bring in their own trade.
For example, AttribP 50 with ProfP 40 gives ProdP 70. Age makes no difference. A person's profile shows all of these.
Getting better at work
EditStaff improve while they work in a building, on a construction site or in a vehicle, but not at head office, while absent or in training. Every update at work brings them closer to their next gain, which comes after a random 40 to 110 updates. A gain is not certain: a little over half the time it adds 1 to 5 points, and the bigger gains are rarer.
Most gains go to one of the five attributes, chosen at random. About one gain in seven goes to profession points instead, but only while the person works in their own trade: a Builder on a site, a Driver in a vehicle, anyone else in the building of their profession. No attribute or profession points go above 100.
Training
EditTraining gives someone a new profession, for example to turn a good worker into the trade your next factory needs.
- It costs £2,000 and takes 24 hours.
- It is done from head office. Move the person there first, then choose the new profession under Train on their profile and press Train.
- While training they do no work and get the head office wage of £2 an hour. They can't be moved or fired.
- When it is over they have the new profession, plus 1 Knowledge and 1 Motivation. Their profession points stay as they were and now count in the new trade.
- Training starts their progress towards the next gain from scratch.
Stop training on the profile takes them out of it. You don't get the money back, and they keep their old profession without the extra points.
