Savings and investments
Your company's four accounts, why savings earn no interest, and how investing at the bank turns savings into Company Value.

Contents
Your company keeps its money in four accounts. Savings is the main one; the others hold money set aside for wages, fuel and dividends. No account earns interest. Once your company has grown, the bank's Investments page turns savings into Company Value.
Your accounts
Edit| Account | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Savings | Almost everything you earn is paid in here, and most things you buy are paid from it. It is shown at the top of every page. |
| Salary account | Wages are paid from it on payday. Top it up on the Salary page under Staff. |
| Gasoline account | Your vehicles fill up from it. Top it up on the Gasoline expenditure page under Transport. |
| Stockpile | 10% of your sales goes here. It pays your shareholders' dividends (Trading shares). |
Deposits into the salary and gasoline accounts are orders: the money leaves your savings at once and reaches the account at the next update. Money in those accounts can't be moved back to savings. A deposit is spending, so it costs Company Value when it goes through, not later when the wages or fuel are paid.
If the salary account is short on payday, the rest comes out of savings with a 25% penalty, and your staff become unhappy (Staff costs and absences).
Negative savings
EditLoan payments, wages and fines can take your savings below zero. During the night the bank clears the overdraft and takes 1 CV for every 1 short, and staff dissatisfaction rises 50% at the next midnight. Keep a margin before midnight and payday (Loans).
Investments
EditSavings themselves are not part of your Company Value; investing them is how they add to it. The Investments tab appears under The bank once your Company Value reaches 20,000, and your secretary tells you when it does.
- Investing gives 1 CV for every £20, without the loss that spending money usually causes.
- The money is gone for good: an investment pays no interest and can't be taken back.
- It is an order, carried out at the next update. While it waits you can cancel it and get the money back.
- The smallest investment is £100.
A higher Company Value raises your rank, how much the bank will lend you and your share price. But invested money can no longer pay for buildings, staff or goods, so keep what your company needs to run.
At the end of the round, whatever is left in your savings is invested for you in the same way. Money in the salary and gasoline accounts is not. In rounds with a wealth tax, invested money is no longer in your savings and pays no wealth tax (Taxes and bonuses).
