Taxes take a share of some of your money. Bonuses reward trading on the market: the sales bonus with Company Value, the purchase bonus with money back.

Dividend tax

Edit

Dividends from the shares you own are taxed 20%. The tax is taken before the money reaches your savings, and the Dividends tab under Shares shows each payment before tax and as received. Dividends are paid on Sundays at 06:00 and once more just before the round ends (Trading shares).

Wealth tax

Edit

Some rounds have a wealth tax. When a round does, the Loans page shows it.

  • It is charged every week, on Saturdays at 15:00, on your savings. Money waiting in orders and the cost of buildings you have ordered but not yet placed count as savings.
  • Once your savings pass a threshold, the whole balance is taxed at one rate, and the rate rises with the balance. The page shows your rate and what you would pay today.
  • You can move the tax to Sundays at 03:00. That can't be undone.
  • It is spending, so it costs Company Value like any other, and it can take your savings below zero.

Money you have invested is no longer in your savings and pays no wealth tax (Savings and investments).

Other charges

Edit
  • The 10% taken from your sales is not a tax: it goes into your own stockpile, which pays your shareholders' dividends.
  • Social fees are added to wages on payday: 2% for every employee you have (Staff costs and absences).
  • Fines are charged for zones left unused (Land and zones) and for a warehouse over capacity (The market).

The Information page under The bank shows what the bank and the government took in and paid out this round, taxes and fines included.

The Bonuses page

Edit

Bonuses, under Company information, has two tabs.

Sales bonus

Each unit of a good you made that sells on the market earns +1 CV, up to your bonus for that good. Today's bonus is what you made of it yesterday, less what your factories used and what you sold in shops or to the bank.

  • Only goods you made count. Goods bought on the market neither earn the bonus nor use it up.
  • It counts on the day the goods sell, not the day you list them.
  • If the buyer sells the goods on within 24 hours, the bonus you earned on them is taken back.

The top table works out yesterday's bonus for every good; the bottom one shows how much of it you have already earned today. On My warehouse, the Bonus link next to a good picks those units, as far as you have them in storage, to put on the market.

Purchase bonus

When your factories use goods you bought on the market, you get 20% of what those goods cost back. It is paid into your savings at midnight, adds Company Value like any money earned, and comes to at most £2,500 a round. The tab shows what you can still receive. Bought goods sold in Shops earn none.

  • Loans Borrowing from the bank: how much you can borrow, the daily interest rate, terms and down payments, paying early, and what happens when you can't pay.
  • Savings and investments Your company's four accounts, why savings earn no interest, and how investing at the bank turns savings into Company Value.
  • Company Value and bankruptcy What Company Value is and what raises or lowers it, when a company goes bankrupt or is closed, what happens then, and the Bankruptcies page.
