Rounds

How rounds work: how long they last, when they start and end, joining a round already running, how the winner is decided and what you keep afterwards.

The game is played in rounds of 70 days in real time. Everyone starts from scratch, and the company with the highest Company Value (CV) when the round ends wins. Then a new round starts and everyone begins again.

Start and length

Edit
  • One round runs at a time. It ends exactly 70 days after it starts, at the same time of day.
  • A new round is normally scheduled as soon as the last one ends, to start on the first Sunday at least 7 days later.
  • Each round has its own cities, from 10 to 20: the more companies played in the last round, the more cities.
  • The day the round starts is Day 0, and the top bar shows which day it is (Game time and updates).

Joining a round

Edit

You can found a company on any day of a running round, right up to its end (Founding your company). Every new company gets the same starting money, whenever it joins. You run one company at a time, and if it closes you can found another at once.

Between rounds, the Start your company page (Next round in the menu) counts down to the next start and shows how your last round went. With the New rounds e-mail switched on under Settings, you are told when a round starts.

The end of the round

Edit

Forty minutes before the end, every company pays its staff what they are owed, whatever its payday. Ten minutes before the end, the last dividends are paid. The bank lends nothing in the last 7 days, and no loan may run past the end (Loans).

When the round ends, every company is settled in this order:

  1. Waiting buy orders are refunded, and goods still on the market are taken off it unsold. Your other waiting orders are refunded to savings.
  2. Negative savings are covered from CV, and companies whose CV is below 1 go bankrupt.
  3. Your zones are cashed in for what selling them would bring.
  4. Every share you hold is sold to the bank, at what the bank pays for it on the last day. This gives no S-points, but the money counts towards CV as usual.
  5. Whatever is left in your savings is invested: 1 CV for every £20.

Goods left in your warehouse or on the market earn nothing.

The winner

Edit

After the settlement, the final C-rank (by CV) and S-rank (by S-points) are fixed. The company at the top of the C-rank wins the round. Every company still running gets its result: final CV, S-points, both ranks and its Career points. A company that went bankrupt or was reset gets none.

When the round ends you get an e-mail with your result, unless you switched Round results e-mails off under Settings.

What you keep

Edit

Your account stays, with:

  • your profile and its results from earlier rounds,
  • your career points and the number of rounds you have finished,
  • any records you set (Rankings and records),
  • your unused VIP days, which are only used on days you have a company in a running round (Premium membership).

Your company, its money, buildings, staff, vehicles and shares do not carry over: in the next round you start again from scratch. The final standings of every finished round stay on Rankings under Past rounds.

  • Rankings and records The Rankings page, with its tabs for companies, members, career points, weekly awards and past rounds, and the Records page with the top 50 for every record.
  • Career points How career points are earned at the end of each round from Company Value and S-points, the all-time ranking, and where your own results are shown.
